In Galactic Fleets you can donate real world currency, and as a thank you gift you will receive a certain number of points based on your donation level.

The donation is used to fund the servers the game is running on, as well as paying for the time and hard work of the game developer(s) to continue to make Galactic Fleets a fun, expansive, and ever exciting gaming experience for its players...that means YOU!

Don't forget to hit the "Other Amounts" option on the donation page. You get more bonus points for larger donations. I know I lost out on few thousand points cause I didn't notice the "Other Amounts" option soon enough.
