Tutorials:Mining

From Galactic Fleets Wiki

Mining is done at a planet, using a Mine. To build a mine, you need to have all of the supplies needed and as many workers as you have available at the planet you want to build it on. The Constructions page lists everything needed.

Mines use the planet turns to produce ores, which you can mine individually as you need them. Each mine can produce Iridium, Zirconium, Tetrium, Quadrium and Gold in different amounts. Workers aren't needed to operate the mine.

When a new mine is built on a planet, the amounts it can produce per turn of each ore is randomly assigned from 1 to 10. Ideally, you want your mine to produce decent amounts of every ore. But most mines will be high in some ores and low in others. Rebuilding the mine on the same planet will produce the same results. But by building a new mine on a different planet, you may get better results.

The most important ores are iridium and gold. Iridium is used in massive amounts to produce plexisteel in the Manufactory. Gold is used with Silicon to produce electronics in the Techfactory. Other ores are also used in other items such as Power Cells, Robotics and Mechs. Complete lists of items produced from the ores can be found by clicking on the name of the ore type.

To build the mine after you have all the needed supplies and workers at the planet, click on the name of the planet below your map or click the Planets button at the top and then click the planet name from there. Next, click the Build button below the planet information. On the build page, click the little 'S' button below "To Build Mine."

To use the mine, go back to the planet info page by clicking on the name of the planet again. Then click the "Mine (I)" button in the middle of the page. Then enter the amount you want to produce under the ore you want and click the 'S' button to mine it. The maximum amount you can produce with the turns you have available will automatically be filled into the box.
